Check somwhere in the rear drivers side. Where the jack thing is, it says it somewhere in there, you cannot get it reprogramed. But once you know the "master code" from the back, you can set up your own custom code.

P.S. Welcome to the best explorer site in the World!:D

Keypad problems

I have a 2001 X, I was reading in my manuel and it is possible to change the factory code, but you need the original, so yes a trip to the dealer is proably in order.:(

No need to go to the dealer it is inside your rear drivers side comartment, on a big white sticker in side there on a grey box 4 digit code.

Up in here on that yellowish thing:

For the life of me, i cannot find anything in the rear compartment that has the keypad code. The only thing that i see is the seatbelt mechanism for the rear passenger.
Is there anyplace else this may be?

What is the number for Ford, perhaps they can tell me where it is with my vin #.

Your looking in the little compartment in the rear where the Jack is? There is a little box back in there and the code is on it.

Yes, in the jack compartment. There is NO module in there. The only thing that even resembles a module is the yellow cover over the seatbelt mechanism.

I called Ford, and they said the only way to get the code is to take the vehicle to a dealer and have the code read by a diagnostic machine.

I called a local dealer, they also said there was a module in the jack area. If not i would need to bring it in and have it read for $46. They said that some vehicles can only be read via computer.
Seems i have one of those.

If you have the keypad on your door, you should have the little module. You really have to look in there. Did you try with a flashlight and mirror?

I used a flshlight, no mirror, but there is nothing i there to look at with a mirror. I had my head in side the hole.
I just dont see anything.
There is a set of wires running through, but the y go to the tail light and the lock switch in the back. Other than there there is nothing within that compartment anywhere.
I am at a loss.
What size is this module?
Thnaks for the help

In looking at the picture that Black Magic posted above, i can see the seatbelt mechanism behind the module i am assuming i am looking for. That is not present in my vehicle.
There are no other wires aside form the tail lights wires.

Is there no where else this could be?

The module is like 4"x4". The module itself shouldn't be hard to see at all, only the sticker. It is strange that you can't find. You do have the keypad on the driver's door right? I know that is a stupid question, but if you have the keypad and the module is not there.........it would be the first one I have ever heard of.

here is a pic, it is the grey module:

I have the keypad, but there is NO module. I just wonder if it is somewhere else?
Like maybe behind the panel on the passenger side in te rear?

No there either.
I pulled the glove compartment out and nothing behind there or behind the kick panel on passenger side.
Could the installer of the aftermarket alarm removed it/
I would think that i would see the wires at least.

Out of curiosity............if you get out of the truck with the doors unlocked... shut the doors.....and press the two far right buttons at the same time, do the doors lock?

Robb

Yes. This is way to wierd.
