1995 ford explorer 4.0
so I guess you could say I'm new....but not really because I have been searching around this forum for years now! I started out with a 2000 4.0 sohc explorer sport with a 3" body lift and 33s...I sold that and bought a black 98 explorer 5.0 with a bad motor rebuilt the motor did a tt and shackle kit on that after the new motor. rand into a lot of problems seeing as how someone abused the truck real bad after it catching on fire twice and me saving it twice I decided to start over...pulled the motor rebuilt it again pulled the tranny and put the ex up on blocks. at this point I said screw it and decided to cut out all the ifs and use a waggy dana 44 and do an sas well I almost finished everything but then some life changing events happened and had to abandon that project...so now the new vehicle is a 1995 ford explorer sport 4.0 ohv 5 speed!

here are my plans for it

1. cold air intake I would like opinions on this though because I have the same intake as the ranger and the ranger guys say to leave and just do a KN filter?

2.underdrive pulley.

3.electric fan (I made a custom set up with Taurus fans) but think I'm going to buy something aftermarket instead

4. I have read a lot on the mass airflow out the 5.0 on ohv but nothing substantial sadly what about a maf out of a sohc?

5. bbk 66mm tb

7. I plan on doing jba headers or pacesetter can we delete the egr?

8. smartparts m50d built transmission with centerforce clutch

9. locked rear end with 4.10-4.55 gears

10. body lift,soa,spindles,tt and 35s

if some of you could help to point me in the right direction itd be great!

IMO I would spend the money on the gears, lift, tires etc and save on the performance parts. They make some difference, but it's not a lot of bang for the buck... There is only so much the 4.0 will give without doing serious and expensive modifications.

Welcome to the forum:chug:

before lift and tires I'm thinking about doing the electric and underdrive pulley just for more miles per gallon and a bit more efficiency! I appreciate the input though and will probably listen to you!

Welcome to EF.
