Yesterday I jumped in my truck to leave for school and turned my HU on (Pioneer DEH-4400). I heard my amp power up and the subs hit but my door speakers weren't working. I wiggled the face place around and heard some crackling. Then I found a spot where it worked until I hit a bump that moved it. I dont think It's a loose wire (but it could be) because merely moving the faceplate fixes it. Do you guys think it could be the connection between the fold-down faceplate and the HU itself or a bad connection?

Thanks much.

The connection should be a few peices of brass, gold or what ever they used for that particuler model..

theese should be pressure conection type .. like a pice of wier with a hump in it, then the face folds down and makes the connection by trying to flaten the wire out..

look to see if these look worn. if so use some rubbing alcohol to clean the connection on the face plate and the wires and then take some tweezers and just pull the wiers twards you very carefully and not with a lot of force just enough to get it to bend a little. that should fix it...

If its the one with the little button type connections in the face plate then i have no clue.... try cleanning the connections to see if that helps.

my old cd player thing, has a hideaway unit, and it sometimes wont work, so i kick it end it works,,, strange..

Yes, check the faceplate plug. I also say check the wires. Were they soldered? I remember on my last HU every time I hit a bump I would get a scratching sound, sure enough it was one of the speaker wires to the HU.

this happened to me with my pioneer head unit! only it is brand new. pioneer is having me take it to a local repair shop :( i paid $250 for this thing, ive never heard it play and already i have to take it to be repaired. something doesnt add up here...

My other Pioneer HU and my old Aiwa did this a few times. Opening and shutting the faceplate fixed it.

yea...mine never worked though at all. put the face plate on 10 times
