What is the difference between a K & N filter and a KKM? Are they interchangable?

If you mean the K&N FIPK and the KKM, then they are basically the same thing except the KKM is cheaper, but its not emissions legal like the K&N. If your state does a visual emissions check, it will fail if you have the KKM since its not CARB certified.

Guess that's why the KKM is cheaper :)
Can you use a K&N filter on a KKM, looks the same. I ask mainly because I think I am going to go with the KKM and I currently just have a K&N drop in and thought I could use my K&N when the KKM is out for cleaning.

A K&N cone filter will fit on a KKM True-Rev MAS adaptor, provided that its the right size of course.

The KKM is by far the better purchase. Its only about $100 (total with shipping) and has the filter lid so it sucks air in from all sides, allowing the best possible airflow. Whereas K&N FIPKs cost from around $170-250, and you're basically just paying for the popularity of the K&N brand name. KKM filters are the exact same thing as K&N, maybe even better, but because they're not as well known, you can get them for much much cheaper.

A K&N drop in is not interchangable with a KKM True-Rev kit... unless you plan on reinstalling your airbox every time you wash your KKM... but do what you like. :D

Your K&N drop in will not work on the KKM. It will only work in your stock air-box. To get another filter that will bolt onto a KKM would require buying two. When I clean my K&N, I just clean it out and put it on the driveway for a few minutes to dry out. I can usually find something else to do while I wait for it to dry.
