So I bought my 06 4.6 with 96,000 miles on it a few months ago sounded healthy no weird noises or anything. Just had the oil changed along with spark plugs for the 100,000 mile service. I have one of those aftermarket warranty’s so I have to follow fords maintenance schedule to the t. Anyway after the oil change it sounds like it has a knocking in the bottom end. I know 5w20 oil was put in. Maybe it had a thicker oil in previously. It goes away when increasing rpm which I read could be the timing phasers. It’s just concerning to me that it sounds like the bottom end. I put my stethoscope on both valve covers and on the oil pan and I don’t hear any knocking when I do that so I’m kinda at a loss.

If you still have a warranty then I would take it to the Ford dealer ASAP and have them diagnose the cause of the knock. Worst case scenario is a problem in the bottom end which likely means a new engine is needed.
