ok so i just replaced both hubs and upper ball joints and now i hear a knocking sound that seems to be coming from the steering. i can feel it knocking in the steering anyway but tie rod ends and all that look good with no play. anyone ever had this problem or might know what it is?

do you hear the knocking when you turn?
if so check ur sway bar bushings and links. when I first got my truck they were so gone that the links actually broke in half when I took 'em out.

Chech the intermediate steering shaft, and/or the boot attached...

i did replace one sway bar link the bushings look good from what i can tell. and all the steering looks tight. i had my wife wiggle the wheel and there is no play. my buddy said it could be inner tie rod ends, is that a possability? and ya its more noticeable in a turn or hitting a bump.

This might be a stupid question but: is everything tight? Stub joints good, etc? You didn't say whether it was a constant knock-knock-knock or a knock....knock....knock.

i did lift the front up and tryied to move everything with my hands and a pry bar, nothin moved. what are stub shafts, the cv shafts are only a couple months old and have not seen any off road action yet.

I didn't know whether it had stub shafts or CV shafts. Stub shafts have U-joints where they go to the hub assy, CV shafts are those tri-ball deals FWD cars have. Truthfully, I'd pull the tires off real quick and have a good look-see. Also make sure your rims are lined up on the hub and tight, and that you don't have any shattered studs. If its a constant knock-knock-knock, then something is hitting somewhere, if it's an occasional knock, then it's probably something else.

ok thanks ill check it out tomorrow and hopefully find something out, ya mine is the 95 with ifs front end, its gay looking to do a sas soon as i get the money
