Known Differential Problems in 2004 Explorer?

There sounds like a jet flying over our car while driving around wife's 2004 explorer at around 30-45 mph's. A mechanic we took it to for another problem a couple of years back mentioned how the diff's in this cars are known to have problems. Anyone confirm this?

We have 75k on it and I'm like clockwork with service.

You could check to see if there is a TSB for this model year.

Diffs and rear wheel bearings are both common issues with that truck. Search and yee shall find.

Incredibly common. If you go to get it fixed get a price quote first and PM me. I may be able to get you to a better or less expensive shop.
