Visited my local Discount Tire, and one of the budget tires they recommended was the Kumho Touring A/S 795.

The Touring A/S 795 is Kumho's Standard Touring All-Season tire developed to meet the needs of the drivers of coupes, sedans and minivans by blending long mileage and comfort with dry, wet and year-round traction, even in light snow. The Touring A/S 795 tires are intended to be one of Kumho's best values.

On the outside, Touring A/S 795 tires feature independent shoulder tread blocks and full depth circumferential grooves to provide all-season traction and enhance hydroplaning resistance. A computer-designed tread pattern combines dry road handling and low noise (205mm and wider section width sizes use the 5-rib design shown, while 195mm section width and narrower sizes use a 4-rib block design). On the inside, twin steel belts provide strength while a polyester cord body helps provide a smooth ride.

Tirerack has them for $45 each. The ratings on there are respectable.

Keep in mind that most of my driving is on-road, and winter traction is ideal. I figured that the price cheap enough to try them. I have used Kumho tires on other vehicles, with great results. Cheaper than the mediocre Goodyear Wrangler RT/S that got put on from the Firestone ordeal.

Should I look elsewhere since they are not a "light truck" tire?

Nothing exciting to look at. I would kinda like to have the OWL though.

FWIW....Hope everyone (Kumho owners) will forgive me, but my F150 at work (Street use only) EATS the factory installed Kumho's. I dont know what the problem is other than to say if I even breath on the sidewalls...they blow out. (2 in less than a week) Barely touched a curb when making a u-turn and blew the first one. Another driver 4 days later was parking the truck and rubbed the curb and it blew the replacement sidewall again. (Forget the model, but it was $118) New truck with low miles, so cant comment on treadwear. We will change to Uniroyal, Goodyear...something other than the stock Kumho's.
Ive heard others praise them tho, so ...what do I know

Not sure what model my Kumho's were on my 2000, they had a lot more aggressive tread then the one you show in the picture, and they were fantastic! I use 4 wheel drive on the weekends going to the ski cabin and I had great luck with them, as well as great wear. I'd have to guess I had more of a off road tire perhaps.

If your looking for a nice budget tire, that is decent and has OWL call around and find a shop that carrys Dayton Timberline A/Ts. They are relatively cheap and a pretty good AT for the money. They are produced by bridgestone. I had them on my blazer and my dad has them on his van and truck. They work out pretty good.
