Chevy had the ZR2 edition two door 4wd 4.3L V6. V6, not V8, they did have a built up 4.3 in the two door Typhoon and Cyclone models in the 1st Gen S-10's and Blazer's. The 4.3 was basically a 350 V8 with the back two cylinders chopped off but always shared the overheating and head gasket problems that the SBC's had. I'm huge into S-10's, I'll post a picture of my old Show/ Drift truck in the morning when I get on the computer. I've had alot of them, 1st and 2nd Gen's.

I could've sworn I've seen some 4.3 4door s10 blazers. The "Z" series or whatever.

you're correct they did have 4 door S-10 with the 4.3 V6 i believe it was only the last two model years 02-03 in 04 they introduced the colorado/canyon the "Z" package you speak of is ZR2 two door ext. cab 6' bed and they also had the ZR5 package 4 door and 5' bed

Yeah my boss has a new 2012 Explorer. I'm not sure where or what the hell you would be able to explore in it, but i assume just parking lots and maybe front yards.
