If I swap my front seats (manual) left and right on my 99 XLS, what do I need to do about the seat belts? My driver seat is beat down and I'm trying to get a more comfortable seat. Is there a way to just swap the bottoms? The receiver end of the seat belt is attached to the seat. Is it easy to just remove it from one and attach it to the other? Will need to swao the bases? I know I will end up the tilt lever on the inside, but maybe that will keep it from breaking off. Thanks for any help.

The seat can be removed from the track. Seatbelt will stay with the track. But the back adjustment will be on the inside if you swap.

I think the whole thing can me taken apart. Seat track for sure... you would need to take the seats out and flip them upside down, take the tracks off and see what needs to be done to mount passanger side seat onto the driver side tracks... holes might be in different locations... other than that - anything is possible! I just put an XJ front seats into my Explorer... ;)

a friend of mine put some seats outta lincoln into his explorer

I thought you had a good idea here as my 96 driver's side got used alot more than the passenger seat (both are cloth). Anyways, spent the afternoon fooling around with things and though you can easily unbolt the seats from the slider / frame... there are just 4 bolt attaching the seat body to the rails..., the seats are not interchangeable... although I tried. The problem at least on the 96, is there is a plastic "kick panel" associated with the side somewhat integrated with the back support adjustment and such. I was going to leave this as it was, but there is no room between the hump and the seat when you switch the seat to the other side position. I didn't really want to play around with the plastic stuff which was somewhat "age brittle". If would appear that you would have to totally remove it which is probably easier than first look but in the end, I didn't think it was worth any further effort. Good luck, maybe you model year will be easier.

I got a question for you. has anyone added a power seat to the passenger side of their explorer? I am dying to do this to my 98 mounty, so i went to the junk yard and pulled the powerr tracks from a thunderbird, few years old. Well needless to say the tracks didn't liine up or fit. I am going back downt herre today, wonderign if ford expedition tracks wouold fit the mounty. Anyone ever really tried?
