Hey guys....
I read that the sport trac has larger rotors then the Explorer. i am interested in trying to fit these rotors on my Explorer. Can anyone tell me if all it takes is a new caliper bracket and brake pads and the larger ST disks? i was thinking of swiping new brakets off a salvage ST, ordering new disks and pads, and giving it a shot. i have the 16" SPort Trac wheels on my truck so I think clearence would be good. ALso can anyoen tell me if the calipers on the ST are the same as the explorer?
Thanks guys!

just a guess here but i would think you would need the ENTIRE front braking system (or rear?) from the sport trac. bigger rotors need bgger everything.

i know..I planned to get larger rotors and sport trac pads..the only thing i did not want to replace was calipers...does anyone know if they are th esame?

I am not sure about your truck but they are the same size as what is on my O1 Sport. I think that they are the same size as your truck too. No increse in size.

sport trac's have a 12" rotor, 4door/sport X's have an 11". some of us have talked about this swap a while back, but no one has tried it yet. in theory, all you will need is caliper brackets off of a junker.... and rotors and calipers. good luck. :)

Well, if jamesT is right, i will have 12" rotors in a month. I'll keep you guys posted. Does anyone want a basically new set of stock explorer disks? If this works, I'll have my stokc ones up for sale. Just installed them less then 10,000 miles ago

....make sure you get all the parts for a 4wd Strac and not a 2wd....they are different.
