OK, I'm making plans to go the States and check out a '96 V8 2WD XLT leather w/ 74,000 mi. that will be a stock streeter. It was bought at auction and I can buy it before it goes public, so not much in the way of history. Photos look good...the cosmetics are easy fixes.

I've spent the past couple of weeks lurking and reading. Lordy, you folks have been a wealth of information. It's not a done deal yet, so any last minute things you can think of that I should look for would be appreciated.

The information from here was easily worth the price of admission, so it was a no-brainer to support this site.

The only thing that I can tell you is that I bought a 91 XLT 4 years ago and it has been the best vehicle I have owned.

It has 169,000 miles and nothing has been changed besides the brakes and steering box.

I've read here that people with v-8 explorers are really happy with them and that there are a lot of mods available for the engine.

Good luck.

Brian

Sounds like a promising truck, barring any bad history. Have you run a Carfax on the VIN?
