or clamp-down?

reason I ask; installed a dual AAL last weekend.

rear of the spring without a clamp

pretty big gap between the main and first AAL.

I did clamp down the front.

clamping down the rear will definitely affect the ride, since it would add additional pre-load to that leaf.

The front also had noticeable space between those 2 leaves.

thoughts?

It would be good to not clamp them for flex. To stop them from "Splaying" a U-bolt tack welded to the leaf will prevent it, and you will get the flex. Those add a leafs are stiff as can be already.

BTW, how much lift did you get with the 2 leafs added?

that was my thoughts; was just slightly concerned about the space between the leaves.

I got about 1" higher; these replaced a single shortie AAL.
I wasn't so much concerned with height, was just hoping I could keep the height but possibly better ride replacing the shortie.

since I can't weld, I ended up getting some universal leaf spring clamps on Amazon for around $7/ea.

the "universals" I posted a pic above bolt to the outside of the leaf pack, not clamp it down.

The ProComp dual AAL came with the clamp downs. Used 'em for the time being to not have to worry about beating the leaves back in place.

Although I did drive it for a couple days without the clamps. Those definitely made pretty noticeable difference in ride quality.

im just gonna update this....

i just did a double add a leaf, from procomp (the long and short)...
and got almost 3 inches from it....ended up being 2 3/4 in. after settle.
and another 1 3/4 from the shackles..

if this helps anybody.....ehh

:salute:

Updates are always good

I'm having kind of a similar problem, my leafs fan out while I'm wheeling so I'm looking for a solution, probably clamps, to keep them from doing this. I'm also SOA

I'm trying to find good clamps too. I can't seem to find any that actually hold onto the spring pack but don't smash it down tight like the universal bolt down ones do. I want to get my AAL put on but these are holding me up.
