Over the past few years I have noticed that I have to add a few cups of coolant every few weeks. The radiator leaks. I also have noticed and been told that I am running a bit hot.

Since I am emotionally attached (heh) to me 93 Explorer XLT I would like to know what a *really* good radiator is to get. Money isn't that much of an issue.

I already have a Jasper reman engine and on my 3rd tranny.

Is the radiator a thing which a relative "advanced novice" such as myself can do? Or should I buy the parts and bring it to a shop to do it for me? The prices are well within my range.

Are you sure the radiator is visably leaking? If not, your coolant could be disappearing due to other causes such as a head gasket. Also, if you feel it's running too hot, try replacing the Tstat.

i was haveing the same problem so i went and bought a new radiator $144,t stat, rad cap,and hoses and come to find out it was the head gasket. so check the gasket before replacing anything

The radiator is extremely easy to replace, oped drain valve, disconnect hoses, remove fan shround, remover 2 bolts at top and lift out.

I have the same problem, been like that for at least 3 years now.

I guess I could be more specific. The water level goes down about a cup or two from the top of the radiator. Never below that. No visible leak. Even in the summer it doesn't get close to overheating. If it even ran a little hot I would get it fixed immediately.

BP those are the common symptoms of a blown head gasket. That is something that you may want to have checked out
