I have another problem with my '92 Ford Explorer. While getting out of my Ex, I heard gushing water coming from the front. I saw that it was the radiator (with steam). I opened the hood and noticed the water was gushing from the side of radiator facing battery. I was able to let it cool down and saw that there is like a 6" crack in the plastic housing around the end of the radiator.
I don't know if there is any internal damage or does water flow through that plastic housing? How does that work? Temporary I am trying JB Weld on the crack with finishing tape. I found radiators for around $120-$270. I know (I assume) I'll need a new radiator but will this patch job last week another week until I will have more time to replace the radiator (on my vacation)? I have read up on removal/installation of radiators and I most certain I can do it myself.

Any suggestions??

Radiators are easy to replace and would take you just as long as patching the crack.

Like SURF said, Radiators are easy to replace, If it's just time, I would go ahead and replace it!! If you are looking for a Temp. Cheap fix, JB weld will
work if you clean the patch area up good, Rough it up a little, Been there
dont that, Worked for me on a Jeep!!:)

Don't waste your time repairing it. Check out the sticky about changing the coolant in this forum. You will see pics and the steps to remove it. It honestly is only 4 bolts, 2 hose clamps and if your truck is an auto; two trans lines witch are mearly bolts with a tube in the head of them.

If you run it, run it with a Low Pressure Radiator Cap ( they sell 7 lb caps) that will help keep the radiator repair from popping until you get the funds together to get a new one. The repair wont last long. You can leave your cap loose but you may lose some coolant. Keep an eye on your Temp gauge. it should be OK but watch it

Thanks

to all for your advice....I did replace it myself and it was quite easy. About a 2 hour job. I also repaired my gas weed eater as well.
