What's up man! Okay, this was a lame thread, but it's always cool seeing people post at the exact same time, visiting the board...

whats up JTang

nothing much here, just hot as hell.
it's almost 11:00 and it's still in the 90s.

yeah, i'm on here a lot. but i have to get off here in a few minutes. my wife wants me to watch Murder in Small Town X. this board is cool, i've talked to a lot of cool people that know a lot of stuff. too bad nobody lives near me.

talk to ya later

where is poconos anyway?

i live in the Poconos, it's in eastern Pennsylvania. i'm a few miles from New Jersey. i want to move out west to either Arizona or Cali, but my wife has never traveled and believes all the stereotypes (you know Arizona is a barren desert with no people for hundreds of miles, and California has such toxic air, and constant earthquakes). i try to tell her it's not like that at all, but you know how women are. we have directv, so we watch a lot of west coast channels. on the news, when they show the air quality reports for SoCal, she say's "See, we cant move there"

oh well

hahaha gotta love women.
yeh i was born in seattle washington but ive lived here in northern california for the past 13 years. i love it.
i cant think of anywhere else in the country i would rather live.

I wish.
Too many people in this city if you ask me. (which you didn't)
If you come here you need to either love heat or have great A/C in your truck and home.
Isn't the Poconos a vacation spot? (ritzy people and all)

unfortunately yes.

in the winter millions of people come here to ski. in the summer they shop, and go to the summer resorts and waterparks. also two times each summer, there is a Nascar race here at Pocono Raceway. the traffic never ends.

i want to live in Poconos sounds fun. There's nothing to do in edmonds. A buch of old people and up tight cops. and i live about 1 hr away from the nearest ski resort.

Actually a lot of my family lives around in Phoenix and Glendale, and my brother is moving from Tucson, AZ. You'd be really surprised. Since Sun and Oracle moved out there, there's a lot of renovation out there, and the areas are really, really nice in the newer parts, and homes are still considerably dirt cheap. The Diamondback stadium is really awesome. Huge air conditioning vents that reach all the way down to the lower levels.

L.A., though, is pretty smoggy, esp. this time of year, unless you live closer to the coast, but at least the weather's never TOO bad...

mine's an HU-card, not an H-card.

so, you only get the new york stations? we've always had both east and west coast stations.

thats what I meant, HU card. It wont allow us to tune any regional stations, only NY local, I thought about getting a hacked card, but dont trust it.

the bad thing about unlocked cards is that they cost so much and get destroyed very easily. Directv sends out ECMs, which fry the card inside the receiver if it isnt valid. that's why websites that sell them call them "test cards"

i just realized, maybe you have a different receiver than me. what brand is yours? (sony, hughes, rca w/metal dish, rca w/plastic dish, or another i dont know about)

Leenjen, don't move to Socal. It is not that great. Yes the air is actually bad there. You could always move to NorCal but there is really nothing to do. Except the snow, and lakes, and a few other things.

I also have Directv and I get chanels from the east coast. I don't know what card I have but I do know I have a RCA dish. Sideswipe, I would complain if I was you!

i have the RCA dish too. some of the other brands dont get all the channels.

if you bought yours in the last 2 or 3 years, you most likely have the HU card. if your card has a picture of a football player on it, then it's the HU.

Leenjen, don't listen to Kyle, SoCal's awesome. Hehe, sorry Kyle, don't mean to bash ya, but I love it out here. It just depends on where you live. Some places are pretty crowded and congested, like the San Fernando Valley, but out where I live, Ventura County, it's less crowded, less congested, better air and cooler weather. You're at most 30 minutes away from the beach, far enough from the city but not too far, and I can't remember the last time we had an earthquake. Seriously, where else in the US can you, in the middle of December, drive a couple hours and go skiing or snowboarding in the morning, then drive a few more hours and be on the beach by the afternoon in 80 degree weather? Just be prepared for the traffic.

peace

Mike

wow I am jealous of you guys! I have the sony box and dish. I think I'm gonna call and find out why I dont get the other channels. Do you guys also get channels from other major cities across the country of just from CA??

yeh i just got back from la a few weeks ago. the air quality is crap in some parts. i live in norcal just 20 minutes north of san fransisco. and i love it here. i dont know what dude is talking about. theres tons of stuff to do. well maybe not if you live in auburn =P j/k

well, i just get the east and west coast channels. there are channels from other cities available, but i dont feel like paying extra just to have a bunch more FOX, ABC, NBC, and CBS stations. i already have enough. the west channels are great because of the 3 hour difference. if we get home late, we can still watch some shows that we missed.
