That's right ladies and gentlemen, it's everyone's favorite game, GUESS. THAT. SOUND. Tonight's contestant is a 2001 Explorer 5.0 AWD with 155K miles on it, it is currently making a very odd metallic rattling noise as illustrated in the video below. Can you, GUESS. THAT. SOUND?
Some background: Started making this sound tonight as I was leaving my dad's house after having it parked there for about 10 hours. Yesterday I had the CV Joint on the front driveshaft replaced and drove it about 100miles without issue. Pulled over and quickly looked underneath at the Driveshaft and everything was as it was supposed to be, nothing hanging or dangling, and front left cv joint looks to be in good shape. My guess is wheel hub since it's also howling like a mother. The sound speeds up the quicker you go and sometimes makes a sound like its stuck and then the noise completely disappears till you stop again. Noise is consistent with wheel speed and not acceleration or braking.
Sorry for the wind noise in the video, my equipment was a Galaxy S5 and my left hand lol.
