Buy a totalled 1996 or 1997 Explorer with a V8. Swap parts over.....

That's how I did mine..

ment to ask if my 5 speed will bolt up? if not i will make an adapter at work.

You don't want it. I broke 3 5spd's with my V6.

Nick26 (or something like that) did a whole write-up on using a F-150's 5-Speed. They are MUCH stronger than the V6 5-speed.

His post has the entire process, part numbers, and what years of F-150 to look for.

i love tuning into v8 swaps...good luck with this.

how many people have gone with the 4.6 instead of the 5.0? I don't recall ever seeing any 4.6 swaps.

i dont thimk anyone has. size wize it a big moter and will be i tight fit.

I wouldn't bother with that 4.6L....it has been done...but they lack torque. You need torque.

It is MUCH easier if you get a 5.0L

the plan is to use the entire engine, trans combo and keep it a 2wd trans, and use a devoiced NP205 for the t case :)

Divorced - nice! Can't wait to see pics!

havin truble finding H.P. specs. anyone know where to look?

well i have been doing allot of research, and don't think i will be using a divorced transfer case.

i found this! http://advanceadapters.com/index.php?p=view_product&product_id=1712 considering i thing my tail shaft housing is cracked and leaks. should be a good replacement.

and how to have a left side drop! :) http://www.marlincrawler.com/transfer-case/line-ups/single/lefty-left-hand-drop-geared-transfer-case and if i wand more gear, i just add another case!

i think its time to save some money! :D

OK maybe we should change the thread title to, lifeguard need to make up his mind on what he wants to do to his truck thread. lol

not doing the v8 swap any more. keeping the motor for future plans just not in the ex.

i think i just need more t cases in stead. maybe 3? lol but will start with 2. i work in a machine shop with about 15 cnc mills and 5 cnc lath's. 10 manual lath's and mills so i will just see what i can make! :)

Horsepower specs? well i believe my NON PI headed 97 mustang gt was 215 hp 285tq.
