whats your mods?

Was that to me?

If so it would take more effort to type than I feel like using :D

Click on the multi colored link in my signature to go to my Elite Registry. On the 1st page there is a table of contents for the whole thread, and a bit further down a listing of all the modifications I have completed to my truck todate.

alright, got pretty much everything covered and im about ready to start ordering parts....

i have a 3.73 rear end....i am dead set on 32" tires......

what will be the best rear end (for gas mileage, i do a lot of highway cruising 60-75, i can control the acceleration) 4.10's or 4.56's? also, where would be the best place to find them?

4.10's will feel a little higher geared than stock

4.56 will feel a good amount lower than stock

For Hi way the 4.10's will likely serve you well if you plan on staying with 32's.

For better offroad performance and if you think you might jump up to a 33 or 35 in the future go with the 4.56.

You will not get 20+mpg with 32's and a 4.10 gear ratio. I think the 4.10 will be better for you. Also, you could possibly reach getting 20+mpg, but with aldive's help. You will need a new intake, MAFS, Synthetics, exhaust, electric fan, etc. -- Some people stock don't get 20mpg. Good luck.

yep, the intake, exhaust, synthetics are in the making.....havent decided about an efan yet

how much should i expect to pay for the 4.10 gears?

Front: $140 (95-01 Dana 35-IFS = standard cut) (91-94 Dana35-TTB = Reverse cut)
Rear: $180 (8.8" = standard)

Don't forget install kits which run about $90-110 a piece. Make sure whatever install kits you get, they have Timken bearings. They are the best and this isn't the time to go "cheap". I would recommend Yukon, Superier, or Motive as a gear set!

Also, Don't forget installation itself. And if you plan on doing it yourself, which you shouldn't unless your positive you know what you are doing, you will need a good amount of tools and math. Good luck.

f all that, i was just hoping to find the stock 4.10's from an explorer for the rearend.....i use 4x4 maybe twice a year...would that make it inoperable?

Explore DMB said it all correctly. Even if you are picking up used gear sets you should still put all new bearings and seals in there (install kit).

You have to regear both axles if you are going to ever use 4x4 or you will do some serious damage to the drivetrain. Furthermore being that you have a later model gen 2 you likely have the auto, 4low, 4hi for your options. If this is the case you must regear both axles to drive as there is always power being sent to the front wheels. I believe that the 95-96 were the only 2nd gens that had a 2wd setting.

Or he can convert like Boomin and take out his front Dana and go 2wd. Drivetrain stuff is sometimes not cheap; and when you cut corners - you pay for it later.

i think ill just leave the 3.73's alone and roll with the 32's.....do some gas mileage mods, and it shouldnt be that bad, i hope =]
