No way. The Explorer has excellent brakes stock. Okay, maybe not.. but 99.6% of lifted X's have the stock brakes on em.

Just in case you want to put on the 3" body lift, here is a write up a guy did that helped me through putting my lift on my Ex. Take a look at my pics, link is in my signiture, to see if that is what you may want to eventually go to. I got 7"s of lift right now and very satisfied with it. You may not want to go that far but take a look and get an idea.
