Hello All,
Been awhile since I've posted here!
Here is some background on my Sport.
- 94 Explorer Sport 4x4 Automatic
- bought used 94,000 miles, currently, 108,200 miles
- replaced Automatic Hubs with manual ones (Warn)
- Edelbrock shocks
- Scorpion A/S
and many oil changes (every 3,000 or so), thermostat and temp sensors replaced and recently oil pressure senor replaced.
Well onto the problem/concern. There is a pinging noise with the lifters, surprise surprise, huh.
We have tried Octane buster to help lessen the noise and that worked for that tank full but is there anything else we can try?
Last week the oil was changed to 20w 50. Per suggestion from mechanic. It seems to have helped but there is still a ping. Now suggestion is to either run higher octane or use octane buster, which as we all know is kind of expensive with gas prices so high.
Anyway, anyone have any other suggestions or solutions?
Thanks for anything anyone can suggestion!!!

Side note: I use to only drive the Explorer a few days a week and on the weekend for dog shows but since my other car is down I have to drive my Explorer back and forth from work and the dog shows. We are also going using my Explorer when we go to Canada on our fishing trip, pulling boat and trailer behind in the beginning of September.
