What's the best way to fit 33x12.5 tires on my 01X? Would a 3" body lift and some trimming work or do I need more than that? And also what add-a-leafs can I use for the rear to get my X level. I also plan on doing the TT up front. Any help would be great.

Thanks
Nick

If you did a search, it would yield some results. The least costly method is to do a torsion bar twist along with 4 door leafsprings/shackles plus a 3" body lift. You would need Performance Accessories #883 body lift. You will have some minor trimming to clear 33s. Another method is to use a 4" Superlift which cost atleast 10x the price of the shackls/leaf springs and body lift combined.

Like Ben said, if you do a search it will give you a bunch of results. Mainly saying exactly what he just said. I'd go for the 3" BL and TT/Shackles/4 dr. springs. The 33s will look really good on there. BTW, welcome to the site :)

Thanks for the help guys!! I had an idea of what I need but I just wanted to make sure. I'll post pics when it's done.

One more question, Does it matter what year 4 dr the leaf springs and shackles come from? I think it would but I just want to be sure. Thanks

The shackles are aftermarket. The 4 door leaves are OEM parts.

The 4 door leaves will work from 91-01 Explorers. The 91-94 Sports weren't monoleaf, so you can use those, but the 95+ Sports were monoleaf so DO NOT get those. Try to get springs from the newest Explorer (up to '01)you can get your hands on. Also try to get a set with the lowest mileage(they usually have less sag, etc.)

As j602 said, the shackles are aftermarket. IMO, only go with the Warrior #153(?) or #353(?). I wouldn't buy those adjustable cheapo ones, b/c they aren't as strong. Some people will debate that theirs hold up very well, but I'd rather have the strongest stuff since it would be supporting the weight of my vehicle and taking a lot of abuse.

My 2001 sport has a leaf pack not mono, check to see what you have.

It might have been swapped out when you bought it...as far as I know, all sports after 95 had the monoleaf, but I could be wrong. Like K-9 said, check to see what you have before swapping it out, b/c you may not need to.

'01+ 2 dr Sports are all multi-leaf. Also, you don't have to go very high to fit 33s on these. They have huge wheelwells. Front and rear fender openings measure about 36" across the bottom. Also, with 30" tires (stock size), I have almost 6" of clearance from top of tire to the fender lips on both front and rear wheel wells. Mine's only lifted about 1.5" over stock and has plenty of room for 32s and should be able to fit 33s. Shackles and a little more TT will fit 33s easily and have room to move around. Not sure how wide of a tire you can fit though.
