I have a 1997 Ford Explorer XLT 5 Speed 6 cylinder OHV, i have been looking at lifting, I'd like to go with a 4" or 6" lift but i cant find any lift kits for this explorer is there anyone who can help me find one that will work on this vehical? it has 31's on it as it sits now and also with the life would i be able to get some 35's on it?? I really need help

Thanks, Tim

Tim,

I'll be the first to point this one out - this question has been asked more times than anyone can count. If you use the search function of the site you will find so much information on this it will likely overwhelm you at first.

The cliff notes version of all this: You can get a 4''+ suspension lift kit if you've got over $1,000 to burn, but the more common and much cheaper approach is to do what I did on my 97' XLT (assuming yours is 4wd) - 3'' body lift on top of a 2'' suspension lift consisting of a torsion bar twist in the front and shackles in the rear. That'll get you able to fit 33s. You can also look into doing a SOA in the rear.

Search, search, search! Good luck man.

im looking to do the same as you. ive heard that just the TT and Shackles + a 3 inch body lift is the way to go. it is more cost effective and still gives you a good amount of lift.
