Hey guys, a little bit ago here I was debating putting limit straps on my 96 V8 because I was getting a bad vibration during low gear accelerations and I thought my CV's were binding up. It seems no one has really ever had to do this with a TT but I figured what the hell, I'll give it a shot and see what happens so I don't over extend my suspension. I haven't gotten a chance to test my theory yet because I've been dealing with other issues on my 96 and been daily driving my 99, but here's after the install.

They are a little tighter than I wanted them, but I'm thinking over time they will stretch out a bit and sit right where I need them. My CV's bind when the fender get's about 8 inches over the tire. The straps pull 100% tight at 7.75". They are however still pretty tight when the truck is sitting level, but hopefully that doesn't cause problems, because any looser and they would allow the suspension to go beyond bind and defeat the purpose. Truck sits at 6.5 inches when it's on a level surface.

Anyway here's a pic after the install, hopefully they don't pull/bend anything when the suspension pulls on them.

Well for anyone interested in the future, this fixed my issue. I no longer get a horrible vibration after I installed the limit straps. So in conclusion if you're doing a torsion twist it probably binds up your CV's during a hard first gear acceleration, at least in the V8 trucks (even if you're not really feeling it).

I do attribute this somewhat to worn out CV's because my 96 does shake on the highway a bit and the CV's have more play than my 99. My 99 which runs smooth as can be on the highway, doesn't have this issue my 96 does, and it too has a TT, so replacement CV's are probably my real solution. But for now the limit straps will do; in the future even after new CV's it will probably prevent premature wear from them being bound up during longer suspension travel.:salute:
