I thought ours was bad.. I guesse we are doing pretty good..

I get a rattle/buzz once in a while from the trim under the steering wheel (part of the dash).. Lots of wind noise from the ventshade things.. Nice Clunk half the time when going from forward to reverse (drive line windup with the detroit).. Normal power steering wine (typical Ford p/s pump). Fuel pump is very noisy.. (waiting until I can change it.. but I can't run it dry.. we live 20 miles from a gas station and the van won't go on the highway now and I'm not carrying gas on the motorcycle)..

My favorite noise is the sound I get when wheeling.. kinda creeks/cracks etc.. Yolanda said it sounds like the titanic right before it broke into two.. (The Ford Engineer didn't like hearing that when we were at truckhaven 2000)..

Other than that the only other noise I remember hearing is one of the spring keepers when it gets caught on the fuel tank skid plate..

Someone mentioned the Cat shield rattle.. that is an easy fix.. grab it with a pair of vice grips and rip it off and presto, no more noise.. (only the bottom part was broken on ours.. the top shield is still there)..

wow monocrhomos, this post is really picking up, I found a new sound on mine too.. squeeeeeeeeeeeeeek when I put on brakes, I think they need changing

The only annoying ones I can think of ...

The squeal (like a pig with his southern owner atop him) of my electric window (driver's side) ever since that day at the beach (very windy. lots os BAD sand).

The squeal of my rear brakes, already replaced and fine ... mystery noise?

AND the ticking at start-up ... lifters??? (OHV engine) ... ??? FORD, that's it -- I heard that last in my Bronco!

My rear window was making an annoying creaking noise whenever the body flexed that was driving me up the wall, but I finally found the split piece of rubber under the hinge and replaced it.

I've got a 93 xlt

Whenever its sitting still and in park, a phantom bumping can be heard eminating from beneath the driver side. There's no pattern to it and only seems to happen when the vehicle is not moving ??? It sounds as if a little elf is underneath banging on the floor boards. Strange....

Other than that, no weird noises....any suggestions to what this may be would be appreciated...

Kaised, I have that same noise except it is from under the passenger side. I don't know what it is either. I have the squeak and thumping noise when I lower the 2 back windows.

i have the squeally noise when the passenger window gets stuck halfway to the top. loose window arm i think, dont want to take the door apart to fix it, it tilts backwards and rubs against the seal

Wow, looks like I'm getting off easy compared to some of you guys.

1)Rattles in the center console were silenced by stuffing towels inside of it. Has been quiet for many years now.

2)Ticking noise at startup. Silenced by an oil change. (phew)

3)Passenger rear door squeaking and rattling over bumps. Still trying to find the cause of that one.

4)Front passenger window rattles. Can be silenced by tapping the down power window button.

5)Strange wirring/grinding noise at idle. Can be drowned out by stereo.

6)Rattles in hatch and passenger door from stereo. Summer project: Dynamat.

7)Knocking and pinging from engine. Grrrrrr, even using 93 octane. Summer project #2: Tighten lower intake manifold bolts.

8)BANG!! "Awwwww, son of a $%&*#!!" Sound made by the truck and uttered by myself after getting rear ended yesterday while sitting at a stopsign.

LOL, something like that.

I also remembered one just last night while driving around as my altenator was driving and my hubs were engaged since it was icy... I know others have heard this, at least me and Ryan and a few others I know... whenever the hubs are engaged, despite whether your in 4wd, a clicking in the transfer case that is loud enough that it's tough to drown out, even with the stereo. Disengage the hubs, noise goes away! Sounds like a bad transfer case.

My loose rearview mirror rattles... have to fix that soon
may back door vibrates with my subs
and some of my interior panels make slight noises over big bumps after pulling them all out over and over for stere reasons-

Well,I have a new noise,a very bad growling coming from the rear end ,I have been told it is the pinion bearing!

Well, it's not really a noise, but I get a vibration right at 20mph only when accelerating. Dealer said it could be bad U joints. I dunno.......
