Just wondering if you guys think I could make it through a mud run at the local fair, I haven't seen how large the mud pit is but I am guessing they use the same place they do the demo derby, its probably about 150-200 feet across

If I kept my X stock except the AAL, shackles & TT with some proper mud tires, most likely the Goodyear MT/R or BFG MT......... would I make it to the other end or would I be wasting my time? also running with a 4.0 SOHC

what gears you got? and what size tries? stock sploders are very capable.... but you must also keep wheelspin up in the mud.... ceasing movement cuases you to not be able to regain traction or wheelspin and may cuase you to sink and get "bogged" down.... my stocker with 31s..posing for the camera in the bog...that is actually a shallow part.. most of that was deper....

Dude.. I've seen those trucks that they race down those things and they have like 18" wide tires on them! If you're gonna try it in your X... GOOD LUCK! :D

well i have the 4.10 LS gears, by the time the fair rolls around i am hoping to have 32's or maybe 33's

section525, as i said, ive never seen them before but if i think i might wanna try, ill go to another fair first and make sure i wouldnt be the only little guy there, but that would be hilarious if i could make it through just by luck and some other bigger trucks couldnt

black magic, it would be cool if you would come watch, you arent but about 2 hours away from my city, i have a friend that lives up there and goes to school, i cant remember where exactly she lives though

She has got a boyfriend at the moment, he's a real dick, they're kinda attatched at the hip if you know what I mean....all I can remember is that she goes to some kinda massage therapy school.

anyone still keeping up on this post, go into the chat room, im damn bored tonight!!

You should be alright depending on how big the mud bog exactly is. When I was a member of the Northern Illinois Explorer Club we went to one (I didnt take mine in), but several others went in (including a 91 stocker) and they made it through alright. In the beginning its fairly easy until several trucks go through the mud. Once they start adding more water and as the bog gets more use, it gets easier and easier to get stuck. Heck, id say with a pretty good set of 31s or 32s/33s you should..should be able to make it.

Most places like that have a mud "bog" and a mud "track".

Your explorer might make it 2 or 3 feet into the mud bog before it gets stuck. But it would make it all the way around a normal mud track. It's just a race to see who can finish in the fastest time.

yea, you need to find out if its a mud bog or a mud track. we usually have both here, as there are alot of guys who build purpose-built rigs for mud/sand drags. all of the mud bogs here start out were someone on 35 swampers MAY have a chance, but after about 10 passes, its 38's, 40's, and 44's. if its a bog, and its anything like the ones around here, you wont have a chance. im guessing about 10 feet.

I would assume they have different classes. Stock, modified, super modified. I almost entered mine in the last bog I went to. They stock (V6) and under were all jeeps and I was dying to enter the X.

Take the Explorer and give it a try. Who cares if you make it or not, at least ya got the guts to try. Just give it hell and keep up the wheel spin!;)

the ones we have here, they attach a huge superlong strap to your rear, and you drag it through. when you get stuck, they hook it to a tractor on dry ground and he pulls you out. keeps it moving faster.

You will make it jsut fine :) , make sure you take a video for us, I want to see this

Id be careful running a stock truck through the mud bogs. not unless of course you like having mud inside the truck. :D
