I am sitting here chilled out tonight, looking to add to the family fleet. All 3 of our cars have over 120K.. My 91 Explorer is invinicable @ 251,000 orignial miles (all by me and my mom)..But our van and the lumina aren't far behind (134K and 150K respectivly).. Anyway, I want to buy a newer car... Please help me decide, because I can't.
My moms Emerald Green 1995 XLT (one I have listed), 55K, Fully Loaded, Everything for a 95 XLT except the Sunroof. The one problem with it is the 4x4 works intermittantly. Plus mom loves it...
A Desert Violet 1997 Eddie Baure with 72K, the basic eddie package with keyless entry, cd changer and leather.. $9,995, No history with this truck at all
Dads Red 2000 with 20K, a lady in a bonnieville ran into it, and it had $2200 repair work done (front hub, new front tires, two rims, passanger door, power steering rack, new front shocks, and a bumper)Mainly used for his real estate busniess. Has CD Changer, Cass/CD and and all of the Xlt goodies
A 1996 Mocha Frost with 114K, all the records, but manily a plain jane xlt, with power bucket seats, regular consoule (904A Pkg, I think)
A 2001 XLT with Leather, 55K some records, used for a pizza delivery truck.
I am leaning twords dads, because, his was one of the last sold (9/01/00) with the 4.0 OHV V6 and his better taken care of than moms or any of the others.
I don't modify cars, so thats not a factor. I love explorers and have been two near fatel wrecks in two different ones (my first was a 1994, and dads old 1997 Mountaineer)and walked away unsacthed. I have a Car and a Van to help keep the miles down. Between my self and my two kids who drive, we put 85K on cars a year..
Thanks for your opinions, I am hopeing to buy something soon.
Charles

A 2001 XLT with Leather, 55K some records!!!!

How much would it take to get the '95 away from mom? That is nice mileage for a '95 (one of the best looking years IMO, but I am bias) and the intermittent 4wd problem is probably just a dirty t-case shift motor (easy fix).

BTW, WELCOME!!!:D

I would go with the '95 too. The '95 I had when I traded it only had 65k and was still running great. I agree that the 4WD problem probably has an easy remedy for it.

The '00 has low miles but has been repaired. If it looks good after the repairs then you could go for that too.

I would still go with the '95 'cause I like the rearend and front bumper of that year better than the '00s year.

Dude, just go with the Corvette. JK. Go with the 95, low miles and no accident is the key.

go 95!:D

95 or dads 00, depending on price

i love 95s...but somethings gotta be done with the ugly silver grill! (i painted mine and will never go back ;) )

skip the accident. Any car with that kind of damage from an accident will bound to have weaken parts as in the transmission or motor.

I would go with the 95 also.Once I get rid of my ex I will heading towards a 95+:D
