nice vehicle, but the dealer does not have any of the keyless entry remote / keyfobs.

if i purchase one online or ebay, is there a way to program it without having an already working unit? i know it can be done if you already have an existing unit and just want to duplicate it.

thanks in advance.

Yes, there is some sort of sequence of turning the key off and on. I can't remember how, but I know it is possible to add fobs to it.

thanks for the reply.

1. turn ignition from off to run 8 times (within 10 seconds). the 8th time stay in the run position. door locks should cycle.
2. within 20 sec press a button on the existing (working) remote. locks should cycle again.
3. within 20 sec press a button on the new remote. locks should cycle.
4. turn ignition to off and locks should cycle once more.

i've done this before when there was an existing working transmitter, but never without one to copy from.

just making sure my question is clear. i don't have any remotes and will be trying to program a new one from scratch.

2. within 20 sec press a button on each remote to be programmed. locks should cycle at the press of the button on each fob.

You're thinking of PATS keys. You have to have 2 PATS keys to program a 3rd/4th yourself.

Up to 4 remote entry fobs can be programmed by the modified procedure you posted. Doesn't matter if you already have one or not. Just do them all at the same time.

BTW, I have the same remote programmed to operate all of the vehicles listed in my signature.....

fobs from eBay

I got a fob from eBay that cost a total of $15 including shipping for my 02 ST - I used the 8 ignition ons-offs method to program it, and it worked great. The eBay seller I got it from was remotesupermarket, and right after winning the bid I had to tell them what vehicle model, year & trim - I got an email with the specific instructions and once it got here I followed them and it worked. I heard the dealer wanted $125 for the same thing I did in 3 minutes of my labor and $15 worth of expense... $125-115=110, 3 mins *20=60 minutes, 20*110=2200 - That must mean my time is worth $2200 an hour! ;)
