2002 Mountaineer
Hey everybody,
I have a good ole 2002 Mercury mountaineer with the 4.0 on 22"s. I am thinking on putting about a 3" drop on it to make it squat on the rims but I can't seem to find one. Also I am thinking on putting a rear mount t3/t4 hybrid on it. The reasoning for using the smaller turbo is so it can spool in an instant providing power to my horrible low end. Can a stock 4.0 handle 5-6 pounds of boost? has anybody attempted to boost a 4.0 on here?

Yes the 4.0 can and has been boosted. If you need help with the turbo just let me know.

I appreciate the speedy response guys. Thanx

how much power did you gain?

I am interested in doing something similar to mine, however unless it is mandatory I would like to keep the turbo closer. I currently have a cai, jba headers and magnaflow exhaust. Do you have any dyno numbers also an estimate of the parts and labor for the turbo and install.

You can do a turbo closer to the engine. It is just that most people find it easier to remote mount it.
