2000 Ford Explorer XLS
Hi All,

I have a 2000 Explorer XLS. It was recently in the shop for a head gasket replacement. The shop owner was a friend of my wifes and they cut a good deal on the repair. So when I got it back there are multiple issues but the most pressing is a fuel line that was broken then put back together with a length of hose and hose clamps. In my experience this is a no no. Besides that it constantly is leaking and need to be refitted and tightened down. I need to replace it. I took a trip to the junk yard and was not able to find a truck with the same line in it. So i took Pics of the line to post hopefully I can get a part number and order the line.

Since that's an OHV engine, I suspect that fuel line
part is obsolete.

Check to see what numbers are on the rubber repaired
hose. If it's SAE 30R7, you should replace it with a
30R9 rating or higher, with the proper sized fuel
injection hose clamps.

Have done this many times especially on GM trucks with the threaded fuel line into the fuel filter. Almost always peel the line around when removing...The repair line kit goes into the filter then you put a hose onto the end of each after flaring the 2 ends. Appears someone put a barb fitting onto the end of the line there, I would try and find some new line but as posted above is probably obsolete. Provided you can get fuel line with an acceptable pressure limit I would not worry too much.

Unfortunately this repair constantly leaks so I cant not worry about it. In addition fuel consumption is through the roof. I don't think its totally from this repair I believe I have other stuff to look at when this is finished but it cant be helping. I cant believing that ford wouldn't stock a fuel line from a 2000 truck as a dealer part.

I hate to rig stuff in any of my vehicles I guess for now I will take Runnins\'s suggestion and continue to look at the junk yards for the original line. In the mean time if anyone can find a ford part number for me it would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think the hose that they used was even the right size. But Cheap labor cheap results.

You cannot have it leaking, it might start a fire. Use the proper hose for repair, yours looks like is only 4 bar/58 PSI.

Choose the right one, for example, on Goodyear website, for Fuel Injection Hose SAE 30R9, there are listed different part numbers:

Part Number ID (in) OD (in) Lengths (ft) Working Pressure (PSI) Burst Pressure (PSI) Min Bend Radius(in) Vacuum HG(in) Weight (lb/ft)
