Looking to respray my dash after I modify it and I'd like to match the stock color of the dash using SEM color coat. The SEM color coat products were just awesome every time I used them on my old Mercedes cars. Any idea what color I should look for? AFAIK there's no interior color "code" on the VIN plate of these gen one Explorers. Again, I have the "tan" interior and it's a '93. Parchment and light buckskin look kinda close on the chips but it's hard to tell of course. Thanks!

Based on what I could find there are certain Ford models where the interior codes are omitted, and mine are. From what I understand these codes aren't included on the VIN tag because there wasn't enough variance in the different colors to warrant them ie: there's only one version of blue, red, tan etc.

So for those of you that are interested my man cyrix informed me that Lowe's sells a Valspar paint that's made for plastics and is a fantastic match for the Ford Tan. I'm getting a can of it this afternoon but he says it's something like "coffee bean".

Update: Valspar "Cocoa Bean" plastic paint is a FANTASTIC match for gen 1 Explorer tan interior. Can't report on durability just yet but valspar products are pretty good generally speaking.

Good to know! Curious if there is a good match for the blue interior for my truck.
