Looking for info on a repair for a cluster odometer instrument panel

Hello Fourm,
I understand that Ford has as problem with the solder connections on the instrument panel.
Yesterday my odometer quit working and the dealer quoted me 750 dollars for the repairs.
I have searched the web and found the problem to be consistent with all of the new ford's.

Looking for somebody who can explain how to repair/resolder connection.

A picture step by step would be great.

i have the same thing going on. if you hit your dash it can jiggle the connection back for a bit, im looking at doing mine, i remember a thread about it somewere.....

It can be a couple of things BUT first see if you can get it to work even for one second by smacking the cover while the truck is moving. If the speedometer works after doing this, you need a new instrument cluster display. I also got a quote from the dealer and decided to repair it myself.
After doing the “smack” test I bought an almost new instrument cluster on eBay for 65 bucks shipped. It took me about one hour to change it out and when I was done everything worked perfectly.

If you buy a cluster to replace yours with, and you know what your doing, it could be as quick as about 15-20 minutes; Ive had mine out to change bulbs/clean and whatnot and it took 10 mins to get it out 5 to clean and like 7 to put it back in.
