guys,
have a 03 ranger motor with 41000 i have bought for changeover into my 03 flex fuel explorer that currently has around 135000. i am assuming right off the bat that the injectors are different obviously because the ranger motor is a VIN E engine and the explorer is a K engine. also the ones from the ranger are blue and carry a different part number than the explorer's, which they are red. my question is can i use the injectors from the ranger? i have switched the fuel rail over to the ranger engine and everything bolts up fine. the injectors from the explorer have seen a lot of open weather and gunk due to the previous owner taking the upper end of the engine apart and leaving it open to the elements. i am not worried about exercising the flex fuel option as we do not have filling stations nearby that handle it. any help at all is greatly appreciated!!!

use the orginal k vin intectors, go to advanced auto and buy new oring's for the injectors. soak the injectors in marvel oil over night to clean out. you can ohm out the injector to make sure they are good.

the blue injectors are different psi and electrical connector is also different.

you should also get new intake oring kit so there is no air leaks, and also get new bolts with new rubber gromets that bolt the intake to the engine.

thanks for the info. believe it or not the harness and rail for the explorer will plug into the injectors from the ranger. the intake bolt seals are a problem that i had seen on 3.8 windstar engines. i have heard two theories on the injectors. one of which i was told that the engine would run rich and foul the plugs, the other was that because these engines were essentially the same engine, same compression, same everything, that the pcm would read the measurements from the o2 sensors and lean down the engine, thus correcting the issue with the bigger injectors. hell, i don't know. do you think it's worth a shot or have i totally got it wrong? if it didn't work i could simply switch back to the old injectors. would it be worth it to know for future reference?
hmmmmmm.........dammmnnnnn.

i have done the same project you are doing, I used the orange fuel injectors, I would think the pcm is programed for a certian plus thats sprays a certain amout of fuel.
