Looking for matching rocker switches to go in 4x4 switch location on dash....

Hey everyone - Ive got a 2002 Explorer 2wd, with the blanks on the dash to the right of the radio where the 4x4 switches would go.

Has anyone found a nice matching black rocker switch of some sort to go into those spots?

OR, is there any way to purchase the 4x4 switch cluster and utilize those as switches? Im not sure what type of wiring and switching system the Ex uses. Thanks!

Yeah you could probably buy the 4x4 switch module and wire it into whatever you need. Id impinge there is just a power, load and ground for each button. Might be better to find one at a Junkyard thst way you can cut out the connector from the 4x4 harness and reuse the connector so everythings clean

I think the 4x4 switches are momentary switches, but I could be wrong. Here is what I installed for my fog lights:

I would just need them to provide a 12 volt signal off of one of the pins, I could use a latching relay triggered by the momentary push. I think I found a decent replacement rocket, I will update this thread when I get them in.

Heres what I did...

Doing the switches while my consoles out.... that things getting replaced... need to shampoo the carpets! LOL

Also the dreaded shifter POS pot metal adapter... been shifting grabbing the linkage the last few weeks haha

What did you use to drill the holes? What type of bit?

The switches I had in stock require a 3/4" bit - I used a 3/4" spade (paddle) bit with a pilot hole first, then filed the edges. The switches have a bezel which covers the hole edge so it doesnt have to be micro precision. Im not totally happy with how it turned out as the round bezel of the swich with the square sides look a bit off IMO, but it will work for what I need.

i work at a place where we do the round rocker switches all the time and what we found best is to use a uni-bit and just keep test fitting it until it fits snug. some times depending on how thick the plastic is you have to drill a tiny bit bigger because of the clips on the switches that hold them in place and then we use plastic-weld or super glue for a added safety factor since the vehicles are emergency responders that we work on.

Im doing a Jotto Desk console in here with Lowband, VHF and UHF Motorola CDM1550s and then a Uniden BCT15 and BC780XLT. Its got Whelen LED hideaways at all 4 corners.
