Hey guys, I notice this subforum is much slower now in 2016 then it was back in 09-11 but I was going through the forums and seeing posts from back then about a lot of you installing the Traxda leveling kit with stock suspension, and mentioning how it adds stress to the ball joints.

My question is, how has it held up? Did the ball joints wear out since you installed the leveling system?
I can go back and read "It adds stress to the stock suspension and such" all day but I'm looking for those of you who chose to install the kit anyway and very interested in hearing how it held up and what issues you've had if any at all thus far?

Thinking about installing the kit but wouldn't have the extra cash to change the control arms and such in the near future so I'm just curious how long the joints actually last under the added stress.

Thanks a lot in advanced! Hoping some of you are still lurking around these parts! :)

Hello,

I've had mine on since mid March, and so far the joints have held fine. However my Sway Links in the front have started squeaking already (Very lightly but still there). Again as far as the joints they're doing just fine. But the BFG upper arms will be my number next upgrade. Better to be safe than sorry ;) I hope it helps. They really are worth it. just make sure while you're down there you clean/replace links

I was in the same boat as you, really wanting the lift ASAP without shelling out the cash I didn't have for those upper control arms. I thought, what the heck, ill just replace that ball joint periodically like once a year or something.

I just couldn't do it though, after reading that a few members snapped their newer ball joints just randomly, I think one guy was luckily only backing out of his driveway, another guy was driving in a neighborhood or something, so they didn't do much damage, or cause any injury.

I knew/grew up with a couple of guys who drove an Excursion, one of the ball joints gave out and the truck veered into an oncoming box truck/semi and killed them. If one of those things pop out or fail and you're cruising, its gonna be bad news. Expensive repairs, tow, could wreck into other vehicles or property, or worse injure yourself from the wreck. Way more than that $575 for the UCA's.

I ended up waiting until I could buy those UCA's and then even longer until I could order all new suspension components because I knew my OEM stuff was on its way out at 85-90k miles. (Currently have the lift, body lift, shocks, UCA's, lower ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar end links, sway bar bushings and all new brakes sitting in my utility room collecting dust because I can't afford the wheels/tires I want to run yet. That mound of parts was slowly ordered throughout the past few months when I had extra money to spend lol)

Moral is...you might be okay like *most* members, but theres also a strong chance the joint could fail, which could be very bad. Ive asked the same question as you to numerous members. Same responses every time. No issues, or the couple members joint failed but they weren't driving fast at the time luckily.

It also depends on the way you drive. For an example: I drive like an old mature man on/off the roads and my vehicles stay resembly well maintained. My cousin on the other hand (the same age as me) drives like he stole his vehicle and drives off road as like his in a baja race or something. He is always replacing parts all the time. I say if you do periodic checks and proper maintenance on vehicles, you shouldn't have a problem. Also using good quality parts also count as well.

@HOOAH , you got pics of your EX? Would love to see it.
