2002 Explorer Sport Trac
I have had my 2002 sport trac for a while and thought it was ready for an upgrade. I am putting a 3 inch body lift on it but am not sure what tires i should get. right now I have the stock 255/70/16r.

I think 265/75R16 is the perfect size for our trucks with 3" or less lift.

Agreed but it is also about the biggest you fill fit on the factory rims (width) so that is worth keeping in mind while budgeting

285/75 will fit on factory rims but may require either more lift or some trimming.

I have a good set of mastercraft courser mt 265/75/16 payed like 900 for them about 7 months ago tread is perfect on them didnt drive the truck much will sell them for 500

I have Cooper HTP 265/75r16 tires on my sport trac 2003 got them from Discount tire online. Delivered to the house for $420. there great in the snow and rain. Good fit no trimming just a T/T and Monroe XL shocks on the back. So far the wear like iron. I added 1.25" spacers on rear had slight rub on inner fender liner now all is great check them out

It's hit or miss… but you might get lucky at one of the local salvage yards. Can't hurt to call around.

I got a set of snow tires with about 85% tread left for $25 a piece two years ago.

If you want to buy new tires that completely understandable too… Just figured I would throw in my 2 cents.

Tires

I put 17" Pro Comp rims on mine and 265 Maxxis Big Horn Mud Terrains on them and it's not lifted! I am also thinking about doing a 3" inch body lift but the guy at the store said 265 on 17"s would look perfect with a 3" body lift

265/75's are the biggest you can go with just a bodylift or just a 2" TT and shackles or add a leafs but you can fit 285/75 and even 305/75 or 315/75's on our 16x7 wheels.

I know it's not recommended by tire manufacturer's but can be done and safely. I have a couple buddy's of mine that run a 315/75/16 tire on a 16x7 wheel. Most of the fullsize trucks and even a ton of Tacoma guys that run 35's are running stock 16x7 wheels with zero issue's.

I'm not endorsing this just clarifying that you can run bigger tires than just a 265/75. I myself have run 285/75/16's on my stock wheels with 1.5" wheel spacers with zero issue's.
