I have one dealer in my smal town, no explorers on the lot. The next town has one Ford dealer, they had a Sport Trac and an Explorer, I was looking at both these vehicles for my next toy. The Sport trac is nice, but I'm quite used to the SUV style and storage my Cherokee srt8 has now, so I do prefer the explorer, so I do have narrowed to that. There are a few specific questions I do have on the models though, I hope you guys can help.

I'm looking for a full load with the 4.6L. It's quite a step down in power but the comfort will increase ten fold so it's win win IMO. I'm not racing anyway.

- The transfer case in the Eddie Bauer with a v-8, does it have the 3 modes/option like the v-6 Explorer does? I checked out one yesterday, auto 4wd, 4wd, and low range 4wd?

- Is there a power rear hatch/tailgate option?

- I don't see a rear backup camera option, is there one, or an aftermarket system that ties into the existing nav system? What systems are ppl installing in their explorers?

- Is there intakes, tuners, exhaust to squeeze out more power?

Thanks in advance for the help!!

Cheers,

MIke.

- Is there a power rear hatch/tailgate option? - I dont believe so, maybe for 2010 but not before.- I don't see a rear backup camera option, is there one, or an aftermarket system that ties into the existing nav system? What systems are ppl installing in their explorers? No factory camera, backup sensor (sonar) option though.
- Is there intakes, tuners, exhaust to squeeze out more power? - Yes, there are intakes, tuners and exhausts. I have a SCT X3 tuner tuned by henson performance (member on here). very pleased with the results. There are cat-backs but i bolted on a flowmaster 50 series SUV. very pleased. You are definietly going to notice a lack of power compared to the SRT8, but that is obvious regardless of what you replace it with.

Thanks in advance for the help!!

Thanks bender, I appreciate the info! Checking the 2010 models, looks like the power running boards is only on the Limited now so I'll be looking for a '09. A small lift and bigger rubber with some bolt on hp items I'll be good to go. I love the srt8, but the seating position is driving me nuts, that and the massive amounts of bottom end contaminents in the oil, the explorer will fit my needs just fine. Thanks again!

Mike.

There are "plug-and-play" assemblies (Video Switchers + Cable Assemblies) that will work with the nav video. Metra Axxess (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_13173_Metra+Axxess+TVN-UN.html + http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_13176_Metra+Axxess+TVN-FDH1.html) is what I have in my notes when (if!) I ever get to mod my Ex with that feature.

Are the power running boards desirable?
I am looking to buy a 2010 Explored Limited V8 4x4.

The F150 has a backup cam that is in the stock tailgate handle and will fit the Sport-trac and can be integrated into the fac nav. The 3v V8 is the same as the mustang and most parts with fit without a problem.
