Well the time has come to get a newer car. My dad has my old 91 explorer and its starting to fall apart. So he wants to buy my 98 which leaves me looking for something new. I have been looking at trailblazers and envoys. Something different from ford. But i realized they were just big (expensive)peices of plastic. I have read nothing but bad reviews from owners. So that leaves me looking at another explorer. I really don't know what to think about the new explorer. I don't mind the way it looks and i will probably never take it off road. Would a 20 year old look stupid in a new explorer? I have looked around the local ford lots but i can't find a 2002 eddie bauer. I have been looking at ebay but the thought of buying a car online without being able to see it scares me. But if the right one came along i would probably do it. Is there anyone my age that is driving one of these things? or will i look like i am driving my moms car.

I think if you bought a Limited you would look perfectly fine.
Maybe even add some rims and that would look awesome and perfect for your age.

I wouldn't buy a 2002 one; first year models = too many problems, especially on that one. And to answer your image question, being 22 myself, I'd drive one but around here, anyone who is driving any SUV really looks like they're driving their parents car. But something that new you'd look like a frat boy at least. I like 'em, but I'd think about an XTerra personally.

Why don't you just by what you want? who cares what others think as long as you like what you drive? The new explorer's are good for what theyre built for, moving people. As far as buying a vehicles online I had the same reservations when I bought my 99 Super Duty. I made the descicion to drive 3 hours on a whim to look and it and I really liked it and bought it. If you find a vehicle you really like there are services out there that will go and look at a vehicle for you and give you an appraisal of it.

Yeah, a limited would be nice. But if i bought one i would probably be strapped for money and couldn't get rims. I would probably go with the eddie bauer. My trouble is just finding one in my price range. I drove a 2004 xterra when my parents bought a 04 quest, it was nice but they don't really have any bells and whistles which i like (heated seats, message center). I can't really think of any other ones.

Why doesn't your dad buy what he wants instead of getting your hand-me-downs?

My dad is the kind that doesn't care what he drives as long as it drives. He only drives about 5 miles a week because his business is in town. I also take really good care of my car, its like brand new. So there is no point in getting a new car. He has business cars and stuff so this is just to go back and forth. I drive alot more then he does for school and work.

Being 21 and having my limited doesn't make me look like I'm driving my parent's vehicle at all. And I want a newer one but I gotta pay for scool first, so I think go with a newer Limited with some rims and you'll be set.

i'm 19 and i'd drive one if i could afford it. I work at a dealer and drive them all the time and i think they are really nice SUVs

Yeah i think i am gonna go ahead and get an explorer. I found one yesterday but the place was closed so i am gonna go tomorrow and look at it. Its a nice 02' eddie bauer so hopefully it will be in my price range.
