Hey guys and gals. Just a quick question for all you random readers out there.
Has anyone had the problem with the front fender trim pieces (black fender piece directly over the wheel) coming loose or popping out from the fender?
The trim piece (like so many others on the explorer) are held in by "pressure clips" for lack of a better term. These clips have been coming loose on my explorer recently.
I took it to the dealer and today they replaced both sides under warranty but upon getting home both sides were loose again, popping out from the fender.
Im thinking the front bumper is not sitting correctly, or the service tech did not replace properly as they should not come out so easily.
More of a curiosity question if any one else has ever experienced and what the remedy was. I will be taking it back for them to try again and fix my "notchy" turn signal lever now that im aware others have.
Thanks everybody.

I believe you are referring to the black liners in the wheel well. I don't recall reading any previous posts about issues with them.

Not quite Peter. Not the liners inside the wheel wells but the black trim piece above the wheels. Below the fender itself these are a piece that is clearly visible at all times. Possibly just on my red ex they are black but I'm sure every Explorer has them.

I noticed this on the front passenger side of mine last week, but it isn't that noticeable, it just happened to catch my eye while washing the bugs off the front end....I'm taking it in for routine maintenance next week and have asked that they take a look at this as well. I'm not overly concerned about it. I may just end up using some 3M double sided tape to fix it if they don't provide a decent long term resolution for keeping it in place.

Okay, got it. Had to go back into my files to look at the setup and refresh my memory. My current vehicle doesn't have those.

Yes sir, that is indeed the piece I'm talking about. Both sides of my Explorer keep popping away from the fenders.
