loose hose?

I have a 97 sport 4x4 with the SOHC and i just noticed a black rubber hose hanging from the rear of it. I climbed under and its connected to the axle between the driverside rear wheel and the rear end, but closer to the rear end. I cant seem to see where it came from. I have to go somewhere in the morning and don't want to drive if its something important. I think it might be a breather that just started to hang because it came loose, any ideas on that?

I believe you are referring to the rear axel breather hose. There should be a bracket to route it through, but it doesn't really connect to anything.

Run the hose up high against the body. Leave slack in it to allow for axle movement.

Thank you, thats what i was hoping it was. Im just gonna wire tie it up there and leave slack like you said.

Make sure the end points downward so no water can get into it.
