2008 Ford Explorer XLT
I have a 2008 Ford Explorer that I recently paid off. I've had relatively no problems until recently. When I accelerate I get a "Engine Coolant Temperature" that flashes up on my dash. This message is brief and then disappears. Then I experience a loss of power for about 10 seconds than it seems to return to normal.

Any codes?

Sounds like the engine temp is exceeding limits, and the engine goes into self-protection (limp-home) mode. If you know that this isn't possible (like, you just started the engine), then perhaps a temp sensor somewhere has gone back, and the vehicle only THINKS it's overheating.
