Ok so I got to leave the house today and just got out the driveway and the motor just died. I had no power. The motor was still running. (idle) But if I hit the gas it would breakup and no accel. I turn the motor off and restarted and it worked fine. So I turned around and pulled back in the driveway. Anyone have a idea what might be the problem?

2001 Explorer XLT 4.0 Auto 38K miles

Thanks
Shawn

Sounds like a transmission problem if the motor would run and rev, but it wouldn't move. Thats about all I know about them.

The truck wouldn't rev. When I tried to rev it, it would cut-out. I'm think I might have got bad gasoline.

My bad, misread it, sorry brain isn't functioning properly tonite

I had this problem on and off for the longest time...never did find out what was wrong....I know it wasn't bad gas though.

Could be a bad crank or a cam sensor reading funky or a tps or a mas..the list goes on. I would have it looked at by someone with a code reader who can read live data, which means they are able to see what all the sensors are doing while it is running. I don't think the code reader from Autozone or where will read these. Best of luck and keep us posted.

I don't know. There was no check engine light on then this happend. I'll let you all know if I ever figure it out.
