loud clank/ rough idle 4.0 ohv

i just threw in a new engine 4.0 ohv block heads cam everything is new nd im having a rough idle and a loud CLANK every 2 sec only at idle... if i look at my belt tensioner it jolts when it makes that clanking sound... it also sounds if the timing is off but when i put the new syncronisor in i used the ford tool to line up the gears right when engine is at tdc but dont know what to check now...

hummm pull the belt see if you still have the noise. Don't run it very long, and start out with it cold.

without the belt it doent clank but seems as the timing is off...
