Loud humming in the engine

It just recently started. I have a 98 explorer sport. Whenever im driving its the worse when im going between 35-65 there is a very and i mean very loud humming noise coming from somewhere. At first i thought it was the tires but i got them rotated and the tread is fine and the noise is still there. It sounds like when i car gets going fast and then lets go of the gas and the rpms stay high for a while. And i cannot stress enough how loud this is. Its pretty much inbearable. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds to me like you have a bad wheel bearing. Are you sure it's coming from the engine?

no not sure...my dad said he thought it might be the wheel bearing also. i might have to get that checked out then. i appreciate it...ill keep you posted one whether thats it or not

If your wheel bearing is bad the wheel should be very hot to the touch after driving for a while. Could be a vacuum leak also.
