- 1999 Explorer sport
I have a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport .
When I first start the vehicle, there is a LOUD hum under the hood. Not gentle but RAUCOUS!
I can feel the vibration when I lift the hood and put my hand on the air intake tube coming from the air filter. The sound seems to come from the center of the engine.
It is a 6 cylinder SOHC 4 wheel drive.
It has been doing this for about 2 weeks. When the engine warms up after about 5 minutes the sound diminishes and then stops completely. It only does it from a stone-cold start. When warmed up there is no Hum.
Any idea what I should check for?
Thanks, Chuckwagon
