Loud roar while accelerating.

We've noticed a loud roar while accelerating. As soon as I let of the gas it stops. I have no way to fix this myself. What I'm wondering is how to find the right mechanic and what should I know so I'm not taken advantage of. Can I trust Aamco? They have a coupon for a free diagnostic, so I was thinking that would save some money. All positive input is greatly appreciated!

2004 4.0 V6 with auto 4x4 w/ 4x4 High and 4x4 Low

Could be a bad fan clutch. Either way, AAMCO will tell you.

AAMCO’s are franchises, so just make sure your local one has a good reputation.

Thanks 4. I checked the fan clutch and it seems good. I'll be calling places in the morning. I'm just worried that they will try to take advantage of my lack of knowledge in 4x4s
