hello. where is the low pressure tap for a/c? thanks

97 XLT

I looked on my 97 and I'm no A/C auto tech. It looks like the tap that I found on my 97 that has a shrader valve in it, is on the high side. That tube is hot which to me indicates the high side were its compressing the gas back to a liq. The suction or low side that is cold has a tap near the accumulator but does not seem to have a shrader valve. Allthouh maybe auto maniflold gauges use a different hook-up on the low side. I'm sure someone on this site should know.

My 94 is an R-134a system, so it should be similar to yours. The low-pressure side tap is located on the a/c line that is furthest to the passenger side on my truck. Pretty easy to get to, right on top and right in front of you when you're standing over the passenger side fender with the hood up.

I looked again on my 97 xlt and like Rhett said it is on passenger side. It is the tap that comes out of the round barrel looking thing. That is the accumulator, it has one large suction line in and one out plus the tap. I noticed that it has a different tap then the high side. I'm used to resedential and commercial AC which use a different hook-up on low side. Could post a pic but Rhett explained it exactly where it is
