lower seat height for tall person

Hello, unusual topic here. I have purchased a 2005 sport trac with moon roof. love the vehicle. after owning it for a few weeks there just is not enough head clearance for me. I'm 6 ft 6". with electric seat down and tilted back, I have about 1" and that is rather uncomfortable. claustrophobic in fact. I'm sure it's the moonroof that takes up space overhead.

does anyone know of any modifications that I can make to the seat or frame to lower it some more?

Using the stock seat I don't think there's much you can do. Explorer seats already mount pretty close to the floor and the front of the seat frame base sits atop a support built into the floor.

Ranger seats fit closer to the floor, but not sure if they'd bolt up.

I believe ranger seats are a straight swap in, and they seem to sit a tad lower. Don't expect to get much more head room though

The sun roof isn't making a difference, at least not enough. Most tall people I know with explorers lean on the center console while they drive.

This busts the lid and busts the seat back on the right hand side.

in my old ranger I swapped in power seats from a second gen explorer and it bolted up but sat higher for the electrics. it would not hurt to try a manual ranger seat

thank you everyone for the thoughts. yes maybe a manual seat would be better. my son has a 2005 sport trac also and it doesn't have the moon roof. about 1 1/2 " more of headroom in his due to not having the mechanisim up there
