Well yesterday (Thursday) I got up early and headed over to the fire station. We have two huge garage bays that are open (extra) so its the perfect place to do all this kind of work. I don't have a garage, and my driveway is slanted, so it would NOT work. Plus it was freezing outside, and they have a really heavy duty kick ass floor jack.

So I finally put on my new rims and tires, they look incredible on my truck. While I was at it I also lowered the front of my truck and removed the step bars. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. First of all the entire truck looks completely different. The lowered look is incredible, and the new rims look fabulous. My new rims are 275/55/17 Cobra R's wrapped in Dunlops. I can peel out now, (and im 4WD!!!!) my tires squeal a little bit if I take really sharp turns, its pretty sweet. Not that I was looking for that...

But anyways, this morning (Friday) I thought to myself maybe I should lower it a tad more. So I lowered the front another inch approximately. It looks incredible! The handling is superb and I love the aggressive look. I really CANT wait to get my trim and bumpers painted black and get the EE airdam on. My truck has undergone a huge transformation lately. I ripped off those stupid extra foglights on the front too, those would have to go soon enough anyway and were useless. And not having the step bars anymore makes SUCH a difference. Looks 100x better.

Now....the pictures!!

I tried to get as many different angles as possible. Tell me what you think! Up next is:

- Complete suspension kit - NEW custom Edelbrock IAS shocks, new polyurethane bushings, bumpstops, ultra beefy sway bar, 1.5" lowering blocks for the rear
- Front airdam
- All grey trim/bumpers painted black
- Hitch removal
- Custom sideskirts! Not ricey, will look really really good!
- ALIGNMENT as required!!!! Not wasting any time to get that done and I'm certainly staying out of the X until it is done! Will be done ASAP.

it looks really good man. i'm not usually a huge fan of those wheels because they are so common... but on a truck with the grey bottom like yours they actually look like they belong. I think it still needs to go lower though for sure.

how do you like those tires? which exact model are they? i'm not sure i've seen them before and i've run/tested a lot of tires over the last year or two

Nice! I see my old billet has a nice new home. :D

is that also, my old billet?

well sort of i think it sat in my garage for a few months

No problem and thanks a lot hartman. I "copied" your offset emblem idea but by mistake actually the emblem came off when I was brushing an enormous amount of snow off my car....and now I like it better without the emblem! Just looks much cleaner overall. I'm glad I have your approval, I'm a big admirer of your truck.

Expo5.0, thanks a lot for your comments as well. Its nice to get your approval as well! It is hartman's old billet grille. Yeah, i know what you mean about the Cobra R's...for some odd reason it really looks A LOT different on my truck! I really don't know why. Maybe because I have lower profile tires? Most people with 17's run on 60's, mine are 55. I can't wait to get all my trim painted black though! Also I can't lower the front anymore because I am putting on the EE airdam - I will only have 9 inches of ground clearance once that is installed. Plus, I don't want to put too much stress on my suspension components....whether some people just didn't know what they were doing or what, I have no clue, but I've heard of people who have had to replace their entire ball joints, hubs, a whole bunch of stuff. I don't want to risk all of that - too damn expensive of a screw up!

I REALLY like it!!!

I like the Street Rigs with some rubber left on the rims!!:D

You're transforming your ride quite nicely, man. Good Job.
How do you plan on getting the side skirt?

Getting or installing? They're on their way right now :D

oh man, looks awesome.

you're right about that freezing thing, im about to go outside and install my shackles that just came in the mail. i dont have a garage, actually, i dont even have a driveway. theres an opening that overlooks a nice waterfall across the street where i do most of my work... its awesome in the summer, but ah... the wind comming up from the water isnt good for much in the winter. :(

perhaps i should befriend a firefighter :) nice work [again]

looks really good. the 275's were a good choice since the fender flares stick out a little.

What sideskirts, do you have a pic of them?

Looks good. Looks like the back could stand another inch closer to earth. But other than that, its pulled the Cobra R look pretty good!

What is that hoodscoop off of?

Yeah, the 255's definitely would've been too narrow.

The exact same ones Marco used:

What do you guys think of those sideskirts? Just curious...

I'm not digging those. The lines don't match up with the door. The styling is too different too from the style of the explorer.

Honestly I don't like them at all. You'll have a hard time making them look right with your fender flares.
