Lowering a ‘99, shocks and rear sway bar and split collets install -- aldive

The bumpers are one last step to achieve the best ride quality you can get. Owners have done without and have been happy. I recommend it, it is part of our kit. Some have cut down the stock bump stops and get similar results. For the extra money you can't go wrong.

I did a brake job today and while the wheels were off, I inspected the stock suspension bumpers and they indeed have been hitting hard.

I have just ordered the suspension bumpers for lowered Explorers from Explorer Express.

Thanks for the order Al!

Let me know what your driving impressions are once you get them installed.

being that that thread was deleted... what are the main differences between these and the stock bumpers? Aldive said that the front ones were close to the same length as the stocks. Are yours made of softer rubber? Do they have that metal in them like the stock ones? I cut my stock fronts but when I cut them I only left about 1/8" of rubber till the metal frame of the bump stop which I did not know was in there. It's not exactly a soft hit when they bottom out. I dont think I've ever hit the rears.

I'm lowered 2" in the front. Would these work for me? If I cut a little off them will I end up in the same boat I'm in now? Any other thoughts?

Aldive, what are your thoughts after driving with these?

Al, never saw a note on impact to mileage. Did you see any improvement from lowering the truck?

Thanks,
TJ

Yes, there was a slight mileage increase but the horrible ride quality was not worth it for me.
